13 June 2022 A coastal road and picking up Dr H

Last day in Llandudno, I decided to do something simple. Here is a coastal walk in the bag waiting to come to fruition.

After dinner, we will pick Dr H at Llandudno Junction, south west of our base. To make the trip worthwhile, we will ,as usual, raid the Asda next to the station for possible gluten free treats for our last destination.

Here's the planned drive to pick up the world famous doctor :

And so we did just that, a good old fashioned coastal walk around the headland. We started off at around 9.30am. RNLI has yet to open (10am). I have lost all desire to buy another after 3 failed tries at RNLI.

We did an anti clockwise loop along Marine Drive. It was a moderate uphill walk. The Drive is a toll road, £3.50 to use.

We hugged the coast line, under the rock outcrop of the headland. Unimaginable if there is a rockfall... Every time I look back at Llandudno and Little Orme or the Pier, there was something to awe me. Photos could not capture the vastness, windchill or the sound of gulls.

The coastal trail is popular with walkers. At one point near the 'Lighthouse', an old couple asked us to look up and see the side profile of a man's craggy face. Most were friendly and a walker's greeting was due everything we cross paths.

At the highest point, we rested and had our 2nd cuppa at a "Rest and be Thankful" cafe. Surly proprietor, if I may say. Not to mention is the very expensive coffee. It was money not well spent.

We resumed our walk, now downhill. Cowyn bay , Anglesey at our front and right. There was a tear drop shaped island that looks like Puffin Island. We were staring at the Menai Strait and Colwyn River; pretty cool.

We saw the famous Orme goats (blondish), lots of gulls and some black sea swimming birds. The sea was choppy and wind gusty, though nothing like the day before.

We turned towards Abbey Place instead of the hilly mountain path to downtown. Good choice because I could see a walker high up. It was 3 hours into the walk and I did not wish to conclude the walk with a strenuous climb up the hill.

1.30pm, 4 hours after we started off, we ate our 2nd meal of the day. Indulgence cafe serves a pretty decent sandwich and  tea.

We took a short rest, and 'raided' Asda superstore. Every food item is studied in detail. Pat even got himself a linen shirt.

Dinner will be a simple affair. Holiday style, we will have mains, ice cream. I even have some fish cakes for Hopey should she feel peckish tonight.
